Double white large fragrant blossoms produced seasonally; always the florist's favorite, thus in the clan generally called "Corsage Grandiflora" growing to be a stout shrub with rich glossy green quilted foliage. If located in a low humidity situation the flower buds will drop before opening; in fact, any major change in location while in bud can result in the blossoms aborting so find a cool very bright spot and LEAVE it there.

40325 GYNURA AURANTIACA COMP CGH PRICE: $ 6.25 "Velvet Plant" Erect thick somewhat succulent stems (seldom branching, thus solitary) studded with large soft leaves with rich purple plush hairs if given very bright light; thus called also the "Purple Passion Tree." Resents summer heat; yet also intolerant of winter chill; thus, best grown in a warm winter greenhouse/conservatory situation. Definitely not a reliable houseplant nor an outstanding (predictable?) patio subject like the other species--but so unique and so potentially beautiful that we feel we do need to offer it to collectors who appreciate a good challenge. Not for the easily exasperated grower. The upright stems may topple with time or with sheer lack of backbone, so best to stake early on. The species name gives a firm clue as to the rayed flowers' hue.
