This is also known as Saccharum 'Pele's Smoke' in Hawaii where it is a stunning permanent bedding statement. More recently this most handsome clump of dusky purple has won over temperated zone gardners bent on bringing a tropical tone to summer plantins. And indeed, the "Purple leaved Sugar Cane" becomes amazing when brought out into a collection of potted plants on your deck or patio. Unmatched for giving an exceptionally elegant vertical effect in a wardian case or larger terrarium; but remember that this is very tropical and thus, unlike various Selaginella species offered here, is not tolerant of chill.

"Peacock Moss" "Rainbow Fern" Climbing and rambling stems, much branched, with blue tinted dimorphic scale "leaves" in four ranks. Sometimes looks like an oil slick. Becomes rather brownish sometimes during its dormant winter cycle, but fear not--just keep cool, moist, and very bright and behold, new blue foliage emerges come spring. Slightly seasonal.
